A laboratory methodology has been developed in order to assess the effect of different commercial liquid scavengers of H2S on the normal operations down stream in gas pipelines. The H2S liquid scavengers are based in amine-Triazine products, and they are used up stream of Sweetening Processes (Amine and Solid Bed) and dehydration Processes (Glycol and Molecular Sieves). First, their capacity to H2S capture was evaluated, besides, their compatibility with the reformulated amine product, trietilenglicol and their corrosive properties were determined. Three different properties could affect the scavenger behaviors in front of H2S removal, one of them is the capacity to remove H2S from natural gas, the other is the initial reaction velocity and the last one is the selectivity to remove H2S in presence of CO2. The scavenger absorption capacity were between 0.35-2.62 lb H2S/gal product with an initial reaction velocity range 3.8-7.4 x 10 -3 mols/min. Every scavenger shows different properties, the laboratory tests developed reproduce the values reported by the suppliers. Results obtained show that the scavengers evaluated do not affect the foaming power of reformulated amine either triethylene Glycol. Corrosivity of scavengers was also evaluated showing a better performance only when H2S is present than mixtures of CO2 and H2S. Compatibility with corrosion inhibitor was evaluated and the results exhibited a good performance of both treatments.
