This NACE standard presents guidelines for cathodic protection (CP) of reinforcing steel in buried or submerged concrete structures. These guidelines provide corrosion control personnel with information to control corrosion of conventional reinforcing steel in portland cement concrete structures through the application of CP. The guidelines presented in this standard are limited to CP systems for new or existing buried or submerged reinforced concrete elements.

New NACE TEST METHOD! The purpose of this NACE International standard test method is to specify test methods and test conditions used to evaluate thermal properties, insulation values, and performance/integrity before and after thermal aging of insulative coatings. Testing for corrosion resistance is not included in this test method.
This technical report presents evaluation techniques which can potentially be used to complement performance criteria of international standards, especially if the criteria cannot be employed to evaluate the effectiveness of cathodic protection and corrosion control techniques applied to existing reinforced concrete structures, including atmospherically exposed, buried, and submerged structures.
