A forty foot well annulus simulator is used to determine the flow and fate of the applied chemical inhibitors for typical backside batch and flush application in a packerless completion. The delivery depends upon both chemical parameters such as density, viscosity, and surface tension as well as flush parameters including volume and rate.
SINTEF (a Norwegian research Co.) made studies of the sensitivity to hydrogen embrittlement (HE) of super 13Cr martensitic stainless steels. These tests are summarised in this paper. Both slow strain rate (SSR), 4-point-bend and fracture mechanics testing have been conducted. The effect of temperature, cathodic protection (CP), applied potential, strain rate and H2S were investigated.
An analytical approach that can discriminate between various forms of microscopic corrosion initiation has been employed in natural gas gathering and storage facilities. Information provided by the analysis of electron microscope coupons has led toward the better understanding and diagnosis of the initial stages of internal corrosion in natural gas gathering and storage facilities.
