This paper reviews the concerns of applying excessive levels of cathodic protection current to pipelines and the need for establishing an upper potential limit. Coating disbondment, hydrogen induced stress cracks, stress corrosion cracking, hard spots and the problems associated with measurement of a true polarized pipe-to-electrolyte potential are addressed.
The T-8-20 Task Group conducted a survey of plant practices and of the performance of materials of constrution in HF Alkylation Units. A Primary goal of the survey was to expand the limited body of the information on alternative ally performance in HF Alkylation units and to better define the susceptibility of steel to hydrogen induced cracking.

CORRECTION OF PUBLICATION:
In January 2016, NACE published an incorrect version of ANSI/NACE MR0103/ISO 17945:2015 (Petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries — Metallic materials resistant to sulfide stress cracking in corrosive petroleum refining environments). That document was incorrectly titled ANSI/NACE MR0103/ISO 17495:2016. The erroneous standard was retracted at the time and the NACE Store has the corrected version. NOTE: The contents of both versions of the standard are identical. The only discrepancies are in the title.
