Vapor corrosion inhibitor (VCI) as an alternative for corrosion control of underside tank bottom. A specified volume of VCI was applied through a leak detector port 24-inch (60.96 cm) from the edge of the tank bottom plate, towards the center. As expected, the initial corrosion rates at the different locations differ and tend to decrease with time.
Currently UNS R56400 (Ti-6Al-4V; Ti64) is common structural implant material. But it releases metal ions into the body, which are associated with neurological disorders, inflammation, pain and loosening of the implant. We have identified a class of inhibitory molecules that abrogate sulfidogenesis in oilfield produced fluids. Bottle tests and laboratory-scale bioreactors to mimic field conditions, found that very low doses of two versions of this class of compounds were found to effectively prevent H2S generation.
In this research, the focus was corrosion behavior of two stainless steels (UNS S30400 and UNS S31600) and a carbon steel (UNS G10180). These were tested at 700°C in a molten NaCl-KCl-MgCl₂ eutectic salt in static air and flowing argon. Electrochemical techniques were used to characterize the corrosion behavior.m
Critical factors affecting intergranular corrosion in AA5XXX under atmospheric exposures. Cathodic kinetics play an important role in atmospheric or open circuit localized corrosion. Electrochemical experiments in thin film electrolytes were conducted to explain the corrosion morphology observed in lab exposures.
